After going through all the opening movies, the main screen displays a "Contest version error, the game needs to be updated" message, and the only option is to quit.  It's on Steam, and I have the game set to be a priority download whenever a new update is released.  In addition, I played the game successfully just days ago.  Is anybody else experiencing this?
