Problems with the game (in its current state)

9

Here are the game's current problems, off the top of my head...in no particular order:

  • can still jetpack through doors
  • some map object hit boxes are too big (eg, barbed wire)
  • build variety is worse than before (which was already bad)
  • difficulty doesn't scale with rewards
  • the new leaderboard consumables don't seem to do much...I've used two so far, and I don't recall noticing a difference
  • no difficulty drop downs
  • no coop void crusades
  • many enchants are useless or extremely niche
  • many perks are useless or extremely niche
  • many weapons are weak (eg, compare the Grav-Gun to the Boltgun)
  • coop is boring and unrewarding
  • not sure, but the coop reconnect bug may still be present
  • chat is terrible...you can't even tell if the chat is still active...and if you press enter to activate it again, your old message remains, requiring you to backspace everything...needs major QOL changes
  • void crusade reward modifiers don't seem to make much of a difference...you definitely do not get 7x more stuff from the chests or from the missions
  • still not enough character information...for example, I have 80% DR in exposed state because of the berserk enchant which gives 12 DR in exposed and the 5 from the tokens granted by one of my signums...or so I think. I really have no idea. It may be from the rune/s in my items (the ones that grant DR on hit taken/dealt), but I doubt it, as the DR doesn't go up until I'm exposed. Also, defense vs ranged/melee is not there. Lots of essential information is not there...
  • still not enough reroll information (we shouldn't have to depend on 3rd parties for essential game info)
  • rerolling still too expensive
  • some chests difficult to see (still)
  • overall game balance is not good...a few things still "dominate" aka are still viable post-horrible seasons nerf patch
  • specifically, i want to mention that the multiplicative vs additive bonuses should be explicitly stated (maybe put an M and A beside each modifier)
  • general chat still seems to be dead...
  • multiplayer lag is still, I assume, very, very bad (which is probably the reason you guys don't wanna add coop functionality to VCs)
  • obnoxious melee executions still present (have to press escape twice...not the most elegant solution to a problem)
  • obnoxious terrain makes you take detours to reach enemy/ies
  • loot modifiers don't seem to make much of a difference, based on what someone was saying on this forum (I wouldn't be surprised if this is, in fact, true)
  • never see 6-enchant relics anymore...
  • not being able to re-roll enchant quantity (like before) sucks
  • no endless (bring it back, but make it better)
  • no map/mission selector (like the old Tarot system)...I like dessert and prometheum mining maps, and Hunt/Assassination mission types. Not hard to add this in some form (especially considering it used to be in the game)
  • too many nerfs (you guys need to boost useless/shitty things, not kill everything that stands out positively)
  • archeotech enchant rerolling needs to cost way less. Spending a spark per reroll is outrageous
  • some enchants still can't roll max values (I made 2-3 posts about this many months ago, still hasn't been fixed...eg, 23 crit str, 38% modifiers). Either change the max value (like for crit str), or fix the bugged enchant.
  • purges are still obnoxious...
  • rescue is a lot better, but sometimes, the guardsmen still act stupidly (eg, one time, they were focusing a single enemy when the teleporter was right next to them...and no, this isn't standard behavior, as I've been surrounded by enemies before when they teleported)
  • i forget the mission type name, but it's the one where you go from point to point and clear the enemies. This mission type needs some major QOL love. I can't tell which enemies belong to the point, as some go crazy and spread out. Once they mix in with the non-mission enemies, you end up having to guess or to clear everything out, which is annoying.
  • leaderboard rewards still not that great...I thought the consumables would be good, but based on my testing, they are not (or they're bugged)
  • start map navigation still slow/obnoxious/pointless
  • keeper of the forge still hasn't offered anything new for months
  • still no real red sparks sink...let us reroll using the reds...
  • many morality relic enchants are pretty dumb...like +% damage vs single enemy...ok?
  • alt+f4'ing still works in VCs...I mean, it's good for testing, but it cheapens the experience knowing you can do this
  • appearance modifer still not clear (or very good)...I just go through the different options, relying on visual inspection/trial and error. Also, how you appear in the character selection screen is quite different than how you appear in the character screen, and both have very little to do with the in-game appearance
  • need vanity items (eg, when you complete a +16 or w/e, you should get a vanity item that looks great and shouts out "I'm better than you" lol)
  • some long enchant descriptions don't display properly (I've noticed this happens consistently when rerolling values)
  • there are still some typos (eg, Strenght in the Crit Str description), and there are still some descriptions that are wrong or that are poorly phrased (one of the incorrect descriptions is the doctrine that states that you gain double shield?, but that your health is reduced to 10%...it should be BY (not to) 10%.
  • Khorne enemy explosions are still by far the most visceral in the game...other groups, like Demons or Eldar (there are more) have underwhelming death animations/effects.
  • some passives not working (eg, the heat tree burn on crit from a heat/energy weapon...should work with Grav-Gun...I thought this worked, but someone mentioned it doesn't...perhaps they're wrong?)
  • Unholy Cathedral rewards are piss-poor...even worse than they were before.
  • having to grind Ordos stores for each character is obnoxious
  • Tarot card levelling is obnoxious
  • Tarot cards seem to be hit or miss...sometimes, they do their job (eg, Intels), but other times, they seem to have no effect, or no effect for a far too long a time (eg, Intels)
  • mission modifiers require finesse/balance...for example, a no crit modifier should GREATLY increase the reward. On the other hand, some modifiers are a joke (eg, anything related to horde enemies)
  • pressing M pops up lvl70...still.
  • DLCs need to be far better...I regret wasting the money on them.
  • Priority missions are pretty pointless. They need to be revamped, cause right now, they're only good for testing your build vs a quick 99% (if you're lucky...you very well may get a 95%)
  • current WZ is a massive grind, and the fact that it stops at 104 is pretty useless. The old WZ was far better, and I didn't like that one very much.
  • The fate loot boxes cost way too much for what they offer
  • DOTs need a rework
  • Crits need to scale as before, but with additional scaling. The change to the breakpoints was just a lazy man's approach to making the game more difficult.
  • psalm-codes need to be balanced/thought out some more...some are way too generic/underwhelming
  • More pslam-code doctrines need to be added, and the bad ones need to be BUFFED (don't nerf the good ones...that is, again, the lazy man's approach to game "balance)
  • Shards need to be synergistic, perhaps...would add some spice/creativity to the game. Right now, they're mostly filler. The only truly essential one is the +crit str pink shard.
  • not enough storage space
  • some non-sensical jetpack behavior (cannot reach certain places you definitely should be able to)
  • artificial wall on Cortex Fragment earnings...I remember last weekend, I played a lot, but my Cortext Fragments were not going up.
  • artificial wall on Cortex Fragment to Favour conversion...more needless grind. You should reward players who play your game a lot by giving them more.
  • terrain bugs (falling through the floor, not being able to hit enemies that are knocked down next to an object that is intersecting their hittable box, not being able to access a chest next to a large object (one of these was recently patched, I believe)
  • Hardcore VCs don't seem to give double the rewards (not even close, really)
  • grindy end-game difficulty, with the recent (massive) nerfs to so many of the things that made the end-game difficulty (99%/111+) doable with certain builds...made far worse by the lack of suitable rewards
  • Chests drop loot too slowly, forcing one to wait for all of the items to drop (this is extra frustrating when you have a high movement speed)
  • not enough skills/customizability for the Crusader/Assassin...Psykers and Tech-Adepts have many things to choose from, but Saders/Sins have just a few weapons with 4 skills each. In fact, not enough customizability in general.
  • no end-game scaling items means that doing difficult missions is relatively pointless once you've reached a certain strength
  • inoculators need more customizability in the form of "color" re-rolling. It makes a lot of sense, lore wise, as the medic would be perfectly capable of doing such a thing.
  • jump skills distances don't seem consistent...with my Thunder Hammer, sometimes my "1" skill leaps over enemies, and other times, it goes only half the distance
  • cone AOE skills don't go where your mouse is pointed. I often point at the ground in front of me, and my "2" skill (Thunder Hammer) goes in a totally different location (eg, hard right). The same thing used to happen with my missile launcher on my demolition armor.
  • Item/loot disappearance/destruction bugs...one time, the game rerolled my enchants in a way that was normally impossible (it reduced my enchant count by one). The game has also converted primary enchants to secondary ones (something that normally isn't possible). Others have lost items. Bugs are bugs...to be expected somewhat. But this game's loot bugs are unacceptable.
  • Item hierarchy out of whack. Morality relics are supposed to be the best, followed by ancients, then reds, then relics. But in actuality, and especially if you consider the investment/return ratio, 6-enchant relics are by FAR the best; then, it's a toss-up between morality relics and reds, and then, finally, ancients.

For my the most annoying part is how bad the co-op experience is and that you can't play VC's in co-op.... But yes, all this needs to be in Neocore's backlog for 2020

"Neocore should make your list their internal to-do list for 2020. "

This.

I actually like the game a lot, but a lot of this list is exactly what also annoys me about it.  I started posting on here arguing with treecar in defense of the new season - I take it back.  It was a waste of time when so many issues exist, and it added more issues. Maybe if they didn't have to spend so much time fixing things their patches introduce, like disapppearing stashes, they might be able to get something done.

That's a massive list you've got there and some useful stuff as well.

What I can contribute to it is:

- Loot Quality - from my testing the +loot quality on gear doesnt matter at all. I had it on +240. No major difference. One thing I saw was that at around +70 loot quality I stopped getting blue gear. ( or at least it doesn't change the loot quality to higher type. Maybe it just rolls better values on gear, closer to the max?)

- Mission Difficulty - yeah I also had my doubts if it gives any benefit as to the loot - on paper the amount of orange-red-ancients was the same but I think that when i changed to +4and above I got more red and ancients. It also could be placebo or just random luck. But in general doing it on normal or +10+ doesn't matter that much.

Wow, what a big list. And Wow, i can agree with over 90% of what you wrote.

I dont play co-op and i play every map like a purge-mission(kill everything unless i have time-limit^^). But besides these 2 points almost everything you mentioned are things that i am upset about too.

Yes, we got some nice improvments and a bit new content over the last month. And i am happy that we still regular patches.

On the other hand, it is sad that we need regular patches to fix things that shouldn't have made it through quality- and game-testing. Most patches introduced a few bugs that were not in the game before.

The worst part is the nerfing. It feels bad if something is "taken" from you. Be it the crafting-changes or the AB-2 and Armor changes(that rendered a lot of characters "useless" over night). If you ask me 2-3 year later, i wont remember all the small positive changes, but i will remember when you "crippled" my crusader with one nasty patch.

The build diversity is also very lacking. Yes, most builds are "playable" and fun as long as you play the storyline. But when aiming for harder content(above +8) all theorycrafting ends up with a mix of the same 4-5 mechanics(crit, enrage, vulnerability and explode-effects). And please dont nerf them too... give us alternatives that can compete. The same applies for weapon/skill choices.

Neocore should make your list their internal to-do list for 2020.

I think I was a bit optimistic when I said that the DR/AB2 changes were secondary to the horrendous damage nerfs...now that I think about it some more, Crusaders got destroyed in terms of defense. This is very stupid, as Crusaders are supposed to be VERY resilient/tough. I have no idea who gave them the idea to nerf Crusader defense, but they shouldn't be allowed to speak or give advice...ever.

If Neocore is smart (no comment), they will revert a lot, if not ALL of the nerfs. The new, much harder enemies is more than enough of a challenge. A massive nerf fest + enemy buff fest was one of the all-time dumbest decisions I've ever seen made by game devs.

As you said, months/years from now...I will still remember this ridiculous piece of shit patch that killed my Sader.

Playing last night I finished my mission, when I got back to the Command Bridge my inventory was completely rearranged and I lost my best weapon.

I wish I was mad about it; I could channel anger into effort to build back up to the weapon I had.

The way it is I just don't want to play the game anymore.

This game has had many of these types of bugs...did you try logging out and back in? I had a weapon disappear on me recently, and I just quit and came back, and it was there. Also, what weapon did you have? Maybe I have something for you, unless yours was an amazing one.
