Sidequest Missions

I have a short question about the Sidequest Missions.

How do i see if a Mission is a Sidequest Missions?
I have done about 10 other Missions than Story, but my Counter is only by two completed Sidequest Missions.

Thats it. And I think some are in the story missions.

i think sidequests are random events that pop up during missions like resque guardsmans before its too late,help psionic close the warp potal,protect the cargo. I had few ike that so far.
