Please improve the targeting when using controller on PC

Hello,

I have been playing the game for some time now. And in my observation some of the weapons and skills have problematic targeting systems. I cannot enumerate all of them but here are some weapons and skills so far that I think the targeting needs to be improved.

The thunder hammer. It has the aoe jump skill and a path skill that both have problems when in targeting when using a controller. The jump skill just hits anywhere regardless of who your target is, and the path skill hits where the character is facing, this is good if you are using a keyboard and mouse but for the controller this is difficult to aim and discourages the use of the weapon itself.

For the psyker skills the bio lightning and the molten beam. The bio lightning is the same as the thunder hammer's path skill where the attack goes to where the character is facing and again it could be improved by letting the lighting face where the target is in the controller. And for the molten beam, the targeting turns off when I use the skill, again this would be nothing when using a keyboard and mouse but when using the controller this is difficult to aim and discourages the use of the skill in general.

There could be other skills and weapons out there that needs improved targeting as well but those I can list as of the moment since I use them more often.

Now why not just use Keyboard and mouse then? Well sometimes I just like to lie on the couch while playing for long periods and using the keyboard and mouse forces me to sit and I don't like it that way for extended periods lol!

And on a side note, I have noticed some games have a smooth system for transitioning the Keyboard and mouse to controller and vise versa like the game Warhammer: Space Marine and Warframe. Where when you play if you press a key it automatically switches to KB+M and when you press a button automatically changes to controller. I don't know if this is difficult to make, but it would be a great addition to the control systems if ever this is implemented.

Yeah the melta gun has that beam skill and it is very difficult to aim with the stick. I just hope they make the controls better like what you said about the red targeting thing etc. And maybe a faster turn rate on the beam skills perhaps? I don't know lol!

I go forward towards an enemy then press the jump skill then my character jumps backwards where there are no enemies randomly or when I am hitting an enemy at face to face and I press the jump skill my character jumps to any random direction.

And the other one the molten beam which deliberately turns off the targeting once I cast it and turning my character to the direction I want the beam to go feels kinda clunky and I was hoping that it followed where I locked my target.

I do hope these issues will be addressed soon.

About the leap is really weird to jump around randomly, Sins have a similar skill on Assault Power Sword that they leap on the target. I haven't experienced that unless that red highlight (which is the target the char is supposedly facing) start to randomly jump between targets too close to each other.


As for the beam, I think it was designed like that for you to have a bit more control, altho, using the stick can be tricky to do that. If I'm not mistaken some heat ranged weapons have a skill of similar behavior that aim in the same way.

Not sure what you want, the way it should be is no target tagging unless you use the target lock function, but the attacks should be sent in the direction the char is facing.


All skills have a range, including movement skills, if you are far from a monster and want to use the skill it's obviously it won't reach.


This game right now has a few issues when in controller mode, it will tag the targets even without the target lock, altho, it's more sensitive since it's not a locking but more like transitioning between targets, and on single target skills that is a down because in the case of sniper skills you end up missing that Champion or Boss and hit a normal monster. It also make your char move from behind a wall or any other "solid" object that prevent you from hitting an enemy, causing you to run over mines or movement sensor traps.


A few days ago before I reported a bigger issue with this, it  was targeting with the camera direction, not the char.


I'm hopping they remove this red tagging from it since it's pretty silly have it if there's a target lock function for that.
