Inquisitor - Martyr Patch v0.2.3
Warhammer 40K Patch NotesUpdates to W40K: Inquisitor - Martyr have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client (in on-line mode) is restarted.
It is also recommended to delete any launch parameters you previously had (you can re-add them if they help again, but it is safer to assume everything works best without them)
Please also note that the backend server might take up to 30 minutes to transfer to the newest update, during which time login will not be possible.
PERFORMANCE CHANGES
- Improved game performance. Players should get improved FPS values and overall smoother gameplay.
MISC CHANGES
- Survey No. 2 of the game is here!
- Be sure to answer the questions and send them so we can gather more feedback about the game - for a small in-game reward.
- Improved monster balance: there should no longer be extreme strength spikes between monsters.
- New map lighting settings for the Floating Platform and Imperial Indoors tilesets

Have not noticed any improvements in performance or the alleged "balancing" of enemies. Beginner\Level 1 missions are still ridiculously difficult thanks to horde sizes being too large and the presence of certain enemies that are better left for higher level missions (Chaos Marines are a prime example of this). Maybe a few more patches and the game will actually be playable, but as it stands it is a massive disappointment if for no other reason than the clarity of how much potential this game has if only movement and combat were less clunky and the missions were actually balanced to not only the Inquisitor's level (or the average of the party level), but to the difficulty level they represent themselves as being, and the fact that they clearly have not taken solo players into account at all.
Overall this patch was a disappointment.
Really? Huh. For me, it's been the other way around, and I'd swear everything's gotten easy again, almost too much so. Maybe I'm just using a really good bolter, heh.
After the completion of the mission, the client crashes on the desktop without saving progress
Yeah allready checked out a few vid´s. To be honest your video made me buying this game. Got hyped :D
Oh man, optimization!! Huzza, buddies, huzza!
Gravity Implosion ability for Grav gun seems to get my character stuck for a few seconds. I think remote mines are doing the same thing. Tried placing a remote mine twice and got stuck.
May I ask if you crafted the heavy bolter since the last patch?
I have noticed what seems to be a consistently lower value of damage dealt by individual weapon skills in weapons crafted since the last patch; not sure it that similar to what you have found. Weapons that already existed before the patch would seem to deal greater damage.
I didn't notice any perfomance changes, but new lighting is awesome!
But I have a few questions^_^
1) Graw-gun works fine, or "stand and die" ability is bugged?
2) Anyone else have a problem with first missions for the assassin? She dies in few seconds(
3) Anyone else have a problem with sound effects after 3-4 mission's runs?

Thanks for asking. This was crafted after the last patch. Maybe some of this will come up in the live stream today. I intend to be present for it. After all, this is the purpose of a real alpha. that is to locate and squash these bugs and to work out gam, eplay mechanics and game balance.
Hey,
new to the game just started playing yesterday.
1. I dont know how the Performance was before the Patch but right now, at least for me, its abysmal (18-20fps max). Got a i5@3,3 ghz, gtx 970,8 gig ram
2. Whoa is the game really that difficult ? Maybe it is due to the low framerate but fights are really hard. Right now it feels more like a tactical topdown shooter than an arpg. Any hints or tips for a beginner ?

Summary =
Don't go melee to start with.
Try different actives, currently the defensive ones are slightly more powerful imho.
Try different weapons, we haven't reached a state of zen balance yet.
Make use of cover using spacebar, to refill health and suppression but also reduce damage taken.
Re performance make sure in your control panel that your GPU is being selected. If the frames are that bad its either because ur i5 is a very old one, or that your internal GPU is doing the work of your external one. Although it's also just possible that you are leaning towards the minimum spec for the game, try turning shadows and advanced shaders completely off. Should increase frames up up to 30%

Its a I5-6600 from mid `15, so cpu should be fine
Same goes for the GPU
I hope the going to do some proper optimisation.
I will check what happens when the shadow and shaders are turned off
thx for the feedback
I presumed it was an older i5 :D tbh it doesn't matter if its an i5 or an i7, what matters is the actual model. But yes you should be running it "ok" but even with their recommended specs you wont get much above 40 fps while in mission and in combat. Optimization will becoming tho brother! :D - Feel free to check out the optimization video - Has a few other tips on getting the most you can out of frame rate. Guud luck!
Resolution bug fixed?

Yay, performance improvements! Let's see how it goes for me...
*Fires up game and plays a couple missions*
Sweet! WAY better! I can actually crank it up from Low to Very High settings and still get roughly the same FPS. And even if it drops to 10-20 FPS, it still feels way more responsive. I feel like I can finally actually truly play the game! Woot!
This is surely a work blessed by the Omnissiah... Can it be... ooh that new update feeling... Start of the week Hype!!!
Huge Kudos to all the team.

Hm. Did a few missions, noticed ZERO performance improvements. But new lighting is nice.
Plus why did the patchnotes not mention the new abilities for some mobs?
Also the crafting bug seems fixed, i can actually craft plevel 2 items.
Awesome patch guys, FPS improved by about 10 on the Inquisitor bridge (Used to be 30ish at medium, now 40ish) and by double that in game (Used to be around 40 at best, now its 60) Going to try turning some stuff up!
Lighting looks great too!
The new ability on one of the mobs was a bit of a shock though (not going to spoil the surprise for everyone else!)
Great job, keep it up, really liking the game so far.
Chris
Nicely done, saw a huge performance increase across the board!
That being said, I still don't hear half of the sound effects? Is is just me? All other games working fine, updated drivers, etc...
Anyone else having this problem?
Looks better and runs better.
Definitely runs better.
My game is now brighter, I hope that is only temporary, I would like it to get more grim.
I came in at the 2.1 patch and all that was required of me was to start with the easier missions instead of just any mission and to practice the adage of "death by a thousand cuts" instead of trying to wade in like some indestructible machine. It means retreating a little and conserving resources. After 2 successful mission completions things level out but those first two missions teach valuable lessons and carry with them a real sense of accomplishment.
Regarding this patch I do notice a difference in performance. However, I still am not seeing any functionality from AA.
Performance has markedly improved, almost no slowdown except during camera-swings ( 45 degree or greater rotation ), lighting has definitely improved and so far haven't run into any real monster difficulty, though it was rare in my prior 2 weeks of gameplay. Overall, I'd say it was an excellent "quality of life" patch. I also like the monster ability upgrades, it helps the Elites live up to the title a bit more.
Anyone else notice that we are gaining negative skill points since the patch?
I did notice that the XP for my next level was increased, was needing 240k to go from 5-6 and now I need 440k.
Wonder if this could be connected.
Loading bar seems to be functional now.
Game feels better in my opinion. More stable.
Only issue that I have ran into was when doing a 4 man level 3 mission. Seemed that whoever was the 4th to join the party would have problems connecting and have to restart and reconnect. This happened in regular missions, tarot missions, and investigations.
great improvement for me ! It really is playable now. Though I find the game a little bit boring. The layout of the mission are mostly always the same... I am not sure I can recommend it at the moment
You have to remember the purpose of why we are here is to test game features for stability etc and comment on the direction etc and what we like/dislike. Being entertained with variation and diversity etc are luxuries rarely found in alphas :D
"comment on the direction etc and what we like/dislike."
And that's what he did.
Hmm Alpha is Alpha, so there is no need to have much maps now, instead of working content you know? Later one if all works well, there they can build much more maps later on.
Before the patch, the game simply would not let me create a cabal (the 'create'-button never lit up although all requirements were met), but now trying to create a cabal crashes the game and sends me to the desktop.
Was the Heavy Bolter damage tweaked and lowered? The reduction in movement versus the lower damage of the Heavy Bolter makes it a very poor choice compared to a normal Bolter. The entire idea of the movement speed tradeoff is you get something in return. Without significantly higher damage numbers for the Heavy Bolter it becomes a weapon in the game you will not use and in addition does not do justice to its literary counterpart.
my heavy bolter and shotgun were raised in damage. Maybe you just got some bad rolls? - All the numbers are still random after all.... But i've seen at least +2 on the max damage of Hbolters compared with previous patch.
Hmmm...not sure but I have used it multiple times - its a crafted weapon and I just end up switching to the standard bolter. The balance, what I trade off in movement speed and the danger that incurs for what I receive in damage output just isn't there.
EDIT: Let me clarify that I have attempted to use it ha ha. Enemies that would have been cut down with a standard Bolter charging me when I am stationary overrun me when I am using the Heavy Bolter. That should be a weapon to be feared and ranged attacks called in to deal with it.
Yeah I was just saying that i've seen it's damage increase a little this patch (on the ones i own at least) but I agree it needs some more tweaks in order to compensate for being so damn slow.
Hey i'm not attacking anyone. Not even disagreeing with him either, I too think the current build lacks replay value, but everything in context right? :)
Didnt notice any improvements in game performance :(
