Greatsword spinning blow not affected by "channeled" buff

I have a relic which has the stat "Gain focused state when using a channel ability". This works with all channeled abilities i have tested (Lasgun, Gravgun, heavyflamer) but it doesn't seem to work on the Greatsword's spinning blow attack even though this is classified as a channeled attack.
