Certain skills fail to apply on-hit effects

2

Hi there. I was doing some testing on DoT damage versus various weapons and enchants, and it looks like some skills are not applying debuff and DoT effects provided by gear. Here's what's working and not working:

Working:

  • Skills with the [DoT] tag.
Tested: Lasgun Aimed Shot, Melta Gun Melta Blast, Melta Gun Inferno Beam (note: this one is channeled)
  • Single-target skills wearing equipment with "chance to cause X on Y skill hit"
Tested, wearing "% chance to cause Burning on Heat Skill hit" : Lasgun Single Shot, Lasgun Short Burst, Laspistol Single Shot, Plasma Pistol Single Shot, Plasma Pistol Focused Shot

Not Working:

  • Channeled skills without a [DoT] tag wearing equipment with "chance to cause X on Y skill hit"
Tested, wearing "% chance to cause Burning on Heat Skill hit": Laspistol Dual Beams, Lasgun Hot Shot

I wore about 30% of gear and tested both repeated initial activations of a channeled skill as well as channeling the skill for long durations. I got several hundred hits in most cases I tried to make sure I wasn't unlucky. I also tested whether it mattered which piece of equipment the % chance on hit was on, but it didn't seem to---I equipped weapons with and without and a purity seal with and without, no difference.

I didn't make much of an attempt to check other debuffs, so my gear was not crafted specifically to check them, but anecdotally I never saw any kind of equipment-supplied debuff when using a channeled skill without an explicit tag.

If this behavior is intentional, it would be great to provide that information to the player. It seems more likely that this is a bug, since it cripples the effectiveness of certain channeled skills.

As we tested you were right the on-hit abilities do not work properly. This will be added to our to-do list. Thank you for the report!
